11-day ‘Peace Education’ program ends at KU

A peace education program for students and scholars concluded at the University of Kashmir on Thursday.
The 11-day program was organized by the Prem Rawat Foundation, Los Angeles, USA, in collaboration with the Shah-i-Hamadan Institute of Islamic Studies (SHIIS) and the Sheikh ul-Aalam Center for Multidisciplinary Studies (SACMS).
In his presidential address, Prof. M Yusuf Ganai, Dean of the School of Social Sciences, who was the chief guest on the occasion, highlighted the role that the Sufis and Reshis of Kashmir have played in the development and promotion of composite culture and how they represented a tolerant ideology. and the culture of compassion.
In his welcome address, Prof. GN Khaki, Head of SHIIS, emphasized the need to promote mutual peace and harmony.
Professor Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, former head of SHIIS, presented a report of the program and its various themes.
“Such programs are part of the multidisciplinary approach that is strongly emphasized in the National Education Policy-2020,” he said.
In her address as a special guest, Poonam Sherawat, Facilitator of the Prem Rawat Foundation, highlighted the importance of various aspects of peace, inner strength and hope. She also applauded the people of Kashmir for their hospitality and love for peace.
A book written by Prem Rawat entitled “Hear Yourself” and three other books were published on the occasion and offered to all participants.
Earlier, Dr. Shahnawaz Shah, Assistant Professor, Department of Persian, KU, recited verses from the Holy Quran. The program brought together more than 200 participants in online and offline mode.
Dr. Muhammad Ilham, Faculty, SACMS, KU led the proceedings of the event while the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Nasir Nabi, Assistant Professor, SHIIS, KU.
