2 HVT drug suspects were killed during the law enforcement operation in North Cotabato

CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao – Combined agents from different combat units of the 6th Infantry Division (Kampilan), Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) neutralized two high profile drug suspects Valor (HVT) for allegedly resisting arrest and enlisting as law enforcement officers while conducting a law enforcement support operation in Sitio Calumpangan, Brgy Balacayon, Pigcawayan, North Cotabato on 18 May 2022.

Major General Juvymax Uy, Joint Task Force Central and Commander of 6th ID identified the slain suspects as Datu Romah Malang Mastura alias Mamako and Ebrahim Samama. Meanwhile, two of their other comrades were caught in said operation. The personalities arrested were identified as Guiahed Akmad Toting, 24, and Ali Kamsa Guilay, 24.

Government forces have reportedly issued an arrest warrant for the group alias Ebs, an escapee during a breakout at the Cotabato provincial police office in 2017 when the suspects fled and resisted.

Mgen. Uy disclosed that the said group would provide finance, weapons and other logistical support to the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and Dawlah Islamiya (DI) operating in the area. “The exchange of fire between the group alias Ebs and the government forces lasted about five (5) minutes which resulted in the death of Mastura and Samama and the enemy retreated towards the south. In this regard, government troops continue to pursue fugitive suspects as they continue to conduct clearance operations in the area,” MGen. Uh, added.

During clearance operations, troops recovered various weapons including two (2) 5.56mm caliber M16 rifles, one (1) 7.62mm M14 rifle and two (2) .45 caliber pistols, as well as assorted war material. In addition, elements of the PDEA, PNP and the army apprehended drug suspects and recovered six (6) medium-sized heat-sealed transparent plastic bags containing suspected shabu of approximately 30 grams and other drug paraphernalia.

“JTFC will continue to support other law enforcement agencies to combat lawlessness and crime in our area of responsibility,” MGen. Uy said, while emphasizing that the peace and security of communities in southern and central Mindanao is the primary responsibility of the command, therefore, the Kampilian troops are always ready to do their job and with passion.
