Message from Sheriff Wayne Ivey
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – On behalf of the 1,700 proud men and women of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Susan, Junny and I wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas!
As we wake up to another beautiful Christmas morning here in Brevard County, I remember how special Christmas is for members of our agency.
For the members of our agency, Christmas is another chance for us to realize once again how truly blessed we are to have the love and support of an amazing community !!
While Christmas is celebrated in different ways, its true meaning is visible around the world. It is a time of faith, joy, reflection and peace with family and friends.
It is a time when we come together in friendship and love, and a time when we come together to help those less fortunate during a time of need. And without a doubt, this is a time when we should put our differences aside to honor the true meaning of Christmas !!
You see, as everyone celebrates Christmas in their own way and through their own family traditions, it is the true meaning of Christmas that makes it so special !! Precious Christmas symbols such as the crib and the Christmas tree that convey the true meaning of this incredible day over time.
The thought of giving up on yourself, thinking only of others, and thinking about how to bring the greatest happiness to others are all etched in the real meaning of Christmas. In fact, the real meaning of Christmas is about faith, it’s about believing in others, it’s about hope, it’s about giving, and more than anything else, it’s about love.
So this morning, as you gather around the Christmas tree with your family to open the presents, I ask you to consider that the best gift you can give them is the one you cannot buy, order online, drive or even wear.
The best gift you can give someone is “You !!” Give them your time, give them your attention, give them your friendship, give them your trust, give them your forgiveness and above all, give them your love !!
As we prepare to embrace the true meaning of Christmas this morning, I ask you to keep in mind that even though Christmas only happens once a year, the Christmas spirit should last forever !!
On behalf of a very grateful agency… we wish you all a very happy and merry Christmas !!
– Sheriff Wayne, Susan and Junny
