Strict Police Enforcement of Local Ordinances in the Cordillera Orderly – Manila Bulletin

Strict police enforcement of local ordinances in the Cordillera has been ordered

CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Regional Police Office-Cordillera Director BGen. Mafelino Bazar has asked all the Chiefs of Police (COP) of the various police stations in the region to review and strictly apply the local ordinances in their respective areas of responsibility.

Bazar said strict enforcement of local ordinances will help resolve a wide range of issues and concerns related to the situation of peace and order in different localities in the region.

“It is very important that we enforce local ordinances, especially on curfew, noise pollution, alcohol consumption outside residences and in parks, as this will prevent other larger cases such only fights between neighbors, fights in the streets and more,” Bazar explained.

According to data from PROCOR’s Regional Operations Division (ROD), from January to April this year, PROCOR recorded a total of 9,295 violations of local ordinances across the region, of which 14 people were charged while 2,967 were fined according to their respective local ordinances.

“In addition to deploying more personnel to the streets to patrol, restricting the implementation of local ordinances is one of our strategies to further improve peace and order in our region,” Bazar added.
